Gym-Dispensaire is one of the very first gyms of Brazzaville, it was established more than 25 years ago and has produced the best and most eminent athletes in Congo, a small country in the Central African region.







Behind Gym-Dispensaire is the respectable Congolese Association Sportive Multidisciplinaire, and its leader, Mr Samba Maximin aka Zhos, who has trained and still instruct most of the young bodybuilders of Brazzaville. More than 100 active members work out at Gym-Dispensaire and pay a small monthly fee of 1000 FCFA after registering for 2500 FCFA (1 euro = 656 FCFA).

Then my muscles started to grow and I kept on working out, even though I still enjoy karate. I participated in the only bodybuilding contest that took place in my country in 2002. I was the youngest contestant and I ranked 5th. Maximin (Zhos) has been my trainer since my first days and he has always encouraged me to keep on training. Thanks to him bodybuilding is today my favourite sport. I train every morning from 7 to 8.30 and rest on Sundays. I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. I also like local dishes of my country the Congo, especially "saka-saka" made of cassava with dried fish, palm oil and groundnut paste. In my spare time I enjoy walking, watching action movies and listen to music. My idol: Mike Tyson.
