The 2009 Man-Ghana body building competition came off at the National Theatre in Accra on Saturday, 24th October. The program started at around 10.00pm when 25 well built gentlemen mounted the stage to contest for the US$1000 and a motorcycle ultimate prize plus an opportunity for the winner to represent Ghana in African and world championships. After displaying what they had in the round 1, Sarkodie, a hiplife artist and lyrical giant, came through with a wonderful performance. Soon after that, the round 2, dance pose, came on.

The competition was organized by the Ghana Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (GBFA), which is an affiliate of the International Fitness and Physique Association (IFPA), International Federation of Bodybuilding (IFBB) and the African Federation of Bodybuilding (AFBB). Four categories were set: the super heavy weight, heavy weight, middle weight and light weight. Mr Yartey, President of the GBFA assured fans of the sport a great show piece for a fee of only GH ¢25.

Super heavy weight
The one man contestant Kofi Salia (a.k.a Asaase) was the obvious winner.

Highlife king - Abrantie Amakye Dede passed through the show with a wonderful live band performance.
Cornelius Ankrah won the trophy for the best dance pose.
Winners from each category: Eric Abiwu, Cornelius Ankrah, Mustapha Richardson and Kofi Salia, were selected to compete for the overall winner MAN GHANA 2009.
After a keen competition, Kofi Salia (last year Man Ghana) became once again the winner for Man Ghana 2009. He indeed took home the US$1000 and a motorcycle prize.

This year's Man Ghana was much bigger and better than the previous events. It drew sponsors such as Astymin and Apetamin, Pleasure Condoms, Royal Motors, Ikann Fitness Centre, Saigon at La Palm Casino, Joy FM, Hitz FM, TV3, GTV, Metro TV, Graphic Sports, Mirror and Graphic Showbiz also supported the event.
