How did your interest in bodybuilding start?
[LaNecia L. Robertson] I first became interested in bodybuilding when I was about 16 or so but it would be another 14 years almost before I started pursuing it for myself. I've always been interested in athletics but it wasn't until I saw Cynthia Hill on a magazine cover in 1999 that my interest in fitness became more than just a casual thought.

Who are the female bodybuilders you most admire?
[LaNecia L. Robertson] The female bodybuilders I most admire are Lenda Murray, Kim Harris, Valentina Chepiga, Anja Langer, Sharon Bruneau, Negrita Jayde and Corey Everson. They are all very strong, muscular and VERY FEMININE looking.

Has bodybuilding influenced your personal development?
[LaNecia L. Robertson] As a result of bodybuilding, my personality has become a lot more outgoing and assertive. I have more self confidence and determination to meet whatever goals I set for myself. I know that the only REAL barriers to my success are those I place for myself.
What is your favourite food, do you follow any diet?
[LaNecia L. Robertson] My favorite cheat food is Lasagna! Most of the time in the off season, I don't follow much of a diet aside from trying to maintain a fairly high protein intake. When I'm preparing for a contest, my favorite protein source is White Roughy Fish and for veggies, it's asparagus.

What advice can you give to your African sisters to encourage them?
[LaNecia L. Robertson] Bodybuilding is not a sport reserved for men!! It takes time and commitment to build a strong yet feminine physique naturally but it can be done. A strong woman both inside and out is a beautiful thing. I wish all women did some sort of resistance training, be it bodybuilding or just enough for physical maintenance. It does so much for the both your mental and physical health (not to mention it makes you feel really good about yourself).
Don't be afraid of building TOO much muscle, it's virtually impossible for the average woman to develop 'manly' muscles by lifting weights alone. Usually that type of physique is acquired with the aid of steroid/prohormone use.
Don't be afraid of going into the gym with the guys, I've learned more by just walking up with a big smile and asking a question than sitting on the sidelines trying to figure it all out. But, I must be honest and say, when I first started training, I was just as afraid to go into the free weight room as a lot of ladies are. Now, as far as I'm concerned, it's MY gym and the guys can USE the weights while I'm there.
I see the sport of female bodybuilding suffering to the point of obscurity here in the states and it breaks my heart because it is something I truly love and support. The chemical abuses of some have turned of many women off to developing their physiques to their potential. That is such a tragedy. It is my hope that one by one that women will regain the belief that they can be muscular AND feminine, strong AND beautiful, NATURALLY.
Did you compete in any contest and what were the results? What is scheduled next?
[LaNecia L. Robertson] I competed in two competitions so far, both were in 2004: MCRD Muscle Madness (August): 1st Place - Novice, 2nd Place Open; Armed Forces (Septmeber) 1st Place Novice Tall, Winner Novice Overall; 2nd Place Open Tall. In 2006 I have competitions scheduled for August 5th, August 26, September 2nd and November.
How can people contact you, do you have a website?
