Training for football
Football is perhaps the most demanding of all sports. It requires muscular endurance, strength in the lower body and good flexibility to avoid injury. Here's how the gym can help you get more out of your game!
Of course you should use every sort of equipments available at your gym to strengthen your legs muscles. Squats, leg press, leg curls, leg extensions, they all are good exercises to improve the strenght of your legs muscles. However, football players need a combination of aerobic and anaerobic exercises due to the nature of the game made of lots of short intense activity bursts along with continuous movement activity. Simply lifting weights is a big mistake. You should always include in your session a lot of aerobic activities like biking, rowing or stepping, for as long as
you can continue without getting too tired or out of breath. Last but not least, when training for football it's very important to stretch the whole body in order to prevent injury. After a gradual warm-up spend some time stretching before you go to the weights room.
Here are some machines intended specifically for the lower body. More information on these equipments on the Facilities page.
