Mr GYM 2006
Thanks to all those who have voted for me!
Thanks to NTPowerHouse for creating this Contest!
It was on Saturday December 9th that we celebrated the end of our Mr GYM Online Contest and distributed the awards to the deserving winners. First place: Eugene Quarshie received a cash prize of 1,500,000 cedis and other incentives. Second place: Erasmus Gusspit received 1 million cedis and third place, Owusu Jacob Kwame, 500,000 cedis.
Some of the members of the new local gyms that will be contesting for the next Local Gyms Online Contest were present to witness the event. The competition was all fun and smiles and we were very glad there was no form of rivalry between the participants. NTPowerHouse complimented them on this and hope this unity and love will always exist. During the event our Chef Mary was so busy getting delicious meals for our guests and once in a while peeps to say "ayekoo" an expression used to encourage anyone performing an energy demanding activity.
Distributing the Certificates of Honour, right: Lazgo with Eugene. Bottom left: Sense with Erasmus. Bottom right: Sense with Jacob.
The five finalists were invited here at NTPowerhouse GYM a week earlier to perform a set of tests from which we determined the deserving Mr GYM 2006. The tests included: Bench Press, Squat, Cable Row, Leg Press and Chin-ups. Each candidate has been evaluated on the number of repetitions, the weight he has used and the way he performed the movements.
Nevertheless, we were greatly disappointed that Scourter couldn't make it to the contest due to circumstances beyond his control and he was mercilessly eliminated from the race.
Bench Press - From top left, clockwise: Eugene, Daniel, Jacob and Erasmus.
Squat - From top left, clockwise: Eugene, Jacob, Erasmus and Daniel.
Cable Row - Left: Eugene. Bottom from left: Erasmus, Jacob and Daniel.
Eugene was on top-form in all the above-mentioned disciplines leaving no stones unturned. Erasmus pursued Eugene very closely coming second in all… in exception of Bench Press where he placed third. To our greatest surprise Daniel couldn't withstand the heat and gave up to Jacob who became the third place winner.
Leg Press - From top left, clockwise: Jacob, Daniel, Eugene and Erasmus.
Chin-ups - From top left, clockwise: Jacob, Daniel, Erasmus and Eugene.
And the winner is...
Eugene emerged the indefatigable contestants among the 5 Mr GYM finalists, winning both the online and the live physical tests at NTPowerHouse GYM.
